• SLICKEN • SLOWCOOKER CHICKEN sweet and sticky chicken, which is oh so good, even the kid ate it!
HONEY GARLIC SOY PULLED CHICKEN
5-6 chicken thighs
5 tbsp of honey
A large knob of butter melted
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
6 cloves garlic, minced
1 thumb size piece of ginger, grated
6-8 spring onions sliced
2 tbsp of cornflour, mixed with water
Sesame seeds, to garnish
In a saucepan mix together the honey, butter, soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, garlic, ginger and half of the spring onions. Once the butter has melted and it’s simmering add it into a slow cooker bowl. Place chicken into the sauce, rotating to coat. Cover and cook for 3-4 hours on low setting. (Cook time depends on the thickness of your chicken.)
After 4 hours – mix the cornflour and water together and stir into the slow cooker. Turn the heat to high, mix it through and cover again to allow to thicken and continue cooking until the chicken is just beginning to fall apart. Take the chicken out. Pull it apart and stir back into the sauce.
Serve with steamed soy greens and rice; top with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
