SLOWCOOKER SWEET & TANGY MEATBALLS
This is a sweet and savoury dish that is Asian inspired flavours. And it’s lean using a mix of lean pork and turkey mince. Ready…
250g lean pork mince
250g turkey mince
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1/2 grated onion
1/4 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup fresh coriander, chopped
salt and pepper
2 tbsp soft brown sugar
1/2 cup low salt soy sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup honey
2 tbsp rice wine
3 garlic cloves, minced
1 tsp ground pepper
1/2 tsp chilli flakes
1 tbsp sesame seeds
In a large bowl, combine the meatball ingredients. Season with salt and pepper. Roll into meatball shapes. Set aside.
In a pan add a little oil and gently fry and brown the meatballs turning halfway. You don’t need to cook it through, you just want colour. Place the meatballs into the slow cooker.
Next combine all the sauce ingredients, except for the sesame seeds. Into a bowl and mix well. Pour the sauce over the meatballs coating them well.
Cook the meatballs on low for 4 hours. Mixing couple times to evenly coat with sauce.
Scatter the meatballs with sesame seeds. I served mine with stir fried noodles and veg and used the left over sauce in the stir fry.
